The item was great. For some reason, DHL had a mysterious problem delivering it. Grand Illusions immediately contacted me. DHL delivered it the next day, so the only real issue was a one-day delivery delay. (It remains a mystery why DHL had a problem--the address was correct, and it is a very ordinary address in a very ordinary US town).

Grand Illusions? My favourite site. A source of fascinating things for friends and relations and especially grandchildren.
Tim is a joy to watch, very infectious.
The whole operation is only marred by one thing - Intermail. Tracking tells us that they hang onto orders for 2 or 3 days before releasing to Royal Mail. Why?

Fantastic experience, as always, when dealing with G.I. spoilt by glitch in the despatch system. To get an email saying 'your package has been despatched - here is the tracking details' (I am paraphrasing that bit) is good. However when the delivery company says 'we are awaiting your package' for 3 days, it looks like someone is not really in the loop. This is clearly a problem to the service dept at G.I. because it tells customers that there is a glitch somewhere, the parcels are not moving.

The warehouse is shipping items out pretty promptly, so I think the problem was with the tracking at Royal Mail. To be fair, they are operating under a lot of pressure at the moment. I would hope things will improve once the lock down is over and staffing levels are back to normal.

Fantastic! Difficult to find item, but Grand-Illusiions had it! This was a gift that the recipient was beyond thrilled. She loves them! And so does her husband! Total hit! She just went on a trip and packed the solids of constant width to travel with her.

Swiss Post added VAT and customs duty (probably unnecessary) for a total of approximately 25 CHF. The product and the packaging were satisfactory.

Countries like Switzerland and Norway, that are not in the EU, reserve the right to charge duty and VAT. Unfortunately, once the UK leaves the EU it would seem that this will apply to all European countries as well. We probably will not have to charge customers 20% UK VAT, instead they will have to pay VAT and duty when they receive the parcel.

The cryptic calendars arrived in good time. On one of the calendars that I kept, the sliding part was quite loose and we have to sort of pinch it together now and then or it slides out of place.
