The patterns are clear and well written, however the actual wool yarn was a huge disappointment. Personally I found it impossible to keep tension with and frankly unsuitable for colourwork. I'm blaming my knitting Norwegian style and not English style for the problems I had, though the yarn did snag and work up unevenly no matter what material my needles were made of (I tried numerous types) or how I held it.

I'm sorry you had this experience with our yarns, our strong culture of Fair Isle knitting comes from Shetland as does our wool so I'm afraid you would be in the minority to feel its unsuitable for colorwork.

Lovely fibre - a natural black and beautifully combed.
Surprisingly good value and I will be ordering more.
I'm in NZ on the other side of the world, and it arrived in four weeks, which is great given current circumstances.
I couldn't be happier. I have purchased from you before and will again.

I ordered this pattern just before going away on a week's holiday and it arrived while I was away so - very quickly. It's a lovely pattern in beautiful, bright jewel colours and will give me just the challenge I need for an Autumn/Winter hat.

I have been knitting with Jamieson Smith yarn for years and love it. The range of colours is second to none, and wool quality is excellent. I have even visited Lerwick and been into the shop there…worth a visit. Will definitely be ordering more soon. My fairisle sweater is knitting up beautifully. Thank you.

In the mood for some two-handed fairisle, I selected a lovely hat patten on Ravelry and ordered the 8 indicated yarns from Jamieson & Smith. I knew I might have to wait quite a while for them to ship to me in Los Angeles, USA. But they came MUCH sooner than I expected! And the yarns are beautiful! The lovely, true colors are exactly what I had hoped they would be. Each is a pull-out skein (a great bonus!) which means I will be casting on immediately. I will definitely be ordering more yarn.

Really lovely wool, perfect for the Shetland design christening shawl that I made with it.
Prompt delivery, even with the mail strikes, and managed to send me an additional couple of balls with the same lot number when I ran out!
